Kevin Lovett, PE

Principal | Structural Engineer | Group Manager

Kevin is a Principal and Structural Engineering Group Manager at Sage Engineering Associates, LLP with 15 years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and industrial facilities. His work includes structural design for both new construction and renovations of existing buildings, with particular expertise in integrating structural solutions with complex mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Representative Projects

New Medium Heating Plant – Marcy Correctional Facility, Marcy, NY

Lead structural engineer for the $7.3m replacement of the facility’s central heating plant. Designed the structural system for the building addition housing the medium temperature hot water plant, including foundations, framing, and equipment supports for four 12.3 MMBTU/hr dual-fuel boilers and associated mechanical equipment.

TRUMPF Photonics EPI Expansion – Cranbury, NJ

Structural engineer for the renovation and expansion of an active semiconductor manufacturing facility. Designed a new 2,261-square-foot structural steel mechanical platform with composite concrete deck, spread and combined footings, equipment pads, stairs, and access framing. Evaluated and reinforced existing roof framing for process exhaust systems, equipment loads, and penetrations, and coordinating closely with cleanroom, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and hazardous-process infrastructure requirements. Construction Cost $6m.

Millstone Medical Manufacturing ISO-7 Cleanroom – Fall River, MA

Designed structural systems for a 7,900-square-foot cleanroom conversion within an operating medical manufacturing facility. Developed foundations, steel framing, equipment platforms, stairs, catwalks, ladders, guardrails, and Unistrut support systems for major HVAC infrastructure and walkable insulated metal panel cleanroom ceilings. Coordinated with architectural and MEP disciplines to accommodate heavy equipment, extensive ductwork and piping penetrations, maintenance access, and existing-building constraints. MEP/structural Construction Cost $1.7m.

3-Ton Bridge Crane Installation – West Milton, NY

Project manager for the design and construction of a freestanding, underhung, hand-geared, single-girder bridge crane within a Risk Category IV facility. Managed structural design, multidisciplinary coordination, construction-phase services, and installation support for the crane system, which provides maintenance access for pump motors and piping components across an approximately 35-by-70-foot operating area. Construction Cost $500,000.

Replacement of Aboveground Steam and Condensate Piping – West Milton, NY

Structural project manager for the design of steel pipe bridges, support stanchions, and foundations associated with a steam and condensate distribution system serving approximately 40 buildings. Directed structural analysis, design documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination for support spans ranging from 35 to 85 feet while resolving extensive overhead and underground utility conflicts, maintaining required clearances, and preserving emergency-access routes. Construction Cost $40m.

Additions and Renovations to the Moffat Library – Washingtonville, NY

Structural engineer for the restoration and expansion of the historic 1887 library following damage from Hurricane Sandy. Designed structural systems for two additions, evaluated existing floor and roof framing for assembly and slate-roof loads, developed cold-formed metal shear walls and helical-pile underpinning, and designed an attic moment frame and mezzanine modifications while coordinating modern building systems with historic-preservation requirements.
